If this is your first ever one this is good, but if you have been at it for awhile this isn't good.

A List of what it needs:

• Border
  
• Gloss
  
• The Visitor TT1 BRK at 20px
  
• Some thing to make it stand out. I can't put my finger on it, but it really doesn't stand out. Try blending the images in.

If you are using GIMP I will try to help you on it, but if you are using something other then GIMP check our tut's to help yourself.

Userbars, like all forms of art, have no set rules...

There is a "generally accepted standard" to userbars, the size being the most important factor. Scanlines, a 1 pixel Border, Gloss, Visitor text ARE generally accepted as standard also, but I have to say that some of the most creative userbars I've seen have used different fonts, no gloss or different borders.

Its also hard to learn to do all those things in all the different graphics tools out there. I use PSP and struggled to make my bars glossy for a long time.

There is a site that can help though. This is The Userbar Designer at Userbars.com and its a wonderful resource for userbars. They have millions of pre-made bars you can look at for ideas. A userbar designer. And a userbar animator.

Fantastic work, Mazin. I like some of Jesse's suggestions, but also agree with Isa. You should make your userbars (or any other artwork, for that matter) however you see fit. While there are standards that are considered the "norm" for making userbars, deviating from these only make your work more unique and desirable.

For example, take a look at some of Sissorelle's userbars. He preferred not to use the "over glow" effect and on many of them, he never used the scanlines technique. Yet, they are some of the greatest ones around. ;D
